Wellness AI prescribing assistant and interaction checks enter early access

Two of the four Wellness AI capabilities are now available to early-access hospitals: the prescribing assistant and the interaction and overlap checks.

Starting this month, hospitals running Wellness can enrol in early access for two Wellness AI capabilities inside the prescribing screen.

Prescribing assistant. As a physician writes an order, Wellness suggests the medicine, strength, dose, route, frequency and duration that fit the recorded diagnosis, the patient's age, sex, weight, allergies and current medications, the hospital's formulary, stock on hand and the payer plan. Suggestions appear on the order line with their reasons and are accepted, edited or dismissed by the physician.

Interaction and overlap checks. Before an order is signed, every new medicine is checked against the patient's current medications and allergies for drug–drug interactions, duplicate therapy, regimen mistakes, dose-range and route conflicts, and allergy cross-reactivity. Findings are ranked Danger, Warning or Info, explained, and offered with an alternative where one exists. Overrides require a reason and are written to the audit trail.

Both capabilities are switched on per facility and per department, and both follow the Wellness AI rule: assistive, explainable, logged.

How to take part. Early access is open to hospitals already running the Wellness pharmacy and electronic health record modules. Contact your Wellness account team.
